THE STORY
Welcome to the one-and-only Sand Castle.
What makes a property an icon? Is it its extraordinary location? Sublime design and architecture? Or, is it simply the name itself ?
For the iconic Sand Castle, La Jolla, California’s waterfront jewel, it is most definitely a combination of the above, plus one often overlooked element – its vision.
The origin of The Sand Castle begins with an image in the homeowner’s mind of an exquisite ocean-view residence and property paying homage to several grand manors in France, such as The Petite Trianon at Versailles, while remaining utterly and gloriously comfortable in its luxury and gracious appeal. To bridge these two often incongruent ideals, beauty and ease, he selected notable architect, Drex Patterson of Island Architects, and world-renowned interior designer, Timothy Corrigan, to help realize his dream.
The Sand Castle is a testament of fortitude, fearlessness, unwavering commitment to detail, and brilliant execution. One only has to recline amongst its mélange of 19th century antiques, modern home technologies, and stunning textures and furnishings, to understand that this labor of love, in which no expense was spared, is exceptional in its taste, appeal, and extraordinary ability to always draw one to the breathtaking and unparalleled views of the Pacific and coastline.
A once-in-a-lifetime property, The Sand Castle is magnificent in its stature and offerings. From its own private beach, with sand exactly as found at the iconic Augusta National Golf Course, to its stunning pool and terraces, and from the Yacht Bar and multitude of sumptuous ensuite bedrooms to the sensational, entertaining showplace Great Room of the Guest Residence, The Sand Castle rightly stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the most exceptional waterfront properties of the world.
